Nexperia Launches Power MOSFETs for Telecom and Industrial Applications
Nexperia Expands NextPower 80 V and 100 V MOSFET Portfolio with New LFPAK Devices
Nexperia has announced a significant expansion of its NextPower MOSFET product line, specifically in the 80 V and 100 V categories, through the introduction of several new LFPAK devices. These devices come in widely accepted industry-standard footprints of 5 x 6 mm and 8 x 8 mm, ensuring compatibility and ease of integration for designers. The latest additions to the NextPower series are engineered for optimal performance, showcasing low on-resistance (RDSon) and low reverse recovery charge (Qrr). This results in enhanced efficiency and minimal voltage spiking, making them suitable for a variety of applications including servers, power supplies, fast chargers, and USB Power Delivery (USB-PD) systems, as well as various telecommunications, motor control applications, and industrial equipment.
These new MOSFETs provide designers with a diverse selection of options, featuring RDSon ranging from an impressive 1.8 mΩ to 15 mΩ. This remarkable range allows for tailored solutions that meet the specific requirements of numerous applications.
While many manufacturers prioritize high efficiency by minimizing total gate charge (QG(tot)) and gate-drain charge (QGD), Nexperia has adopted a unique approach by emphasizing the significance of reverse recovery charge (Qrr). Their in-depth research has shown that Qrr is crucial in determining the amount of voltage spiking and, consequently, the electromagnetic interference (EMI) produced during device switching. By honing in on this important parameter, Nexperia has successfully reduced the spiking levels of its NextPower 80/100 V MOSFETs, significantly lowering the generated EMI. This process leads to substantial advantages for end users, diminishing the likelihood of costly redesigns that may be required if their applications do not pass electromagnetic compatibility (EMC) testing.
Notably, the on-resistance (RDSon) of these newly launched MOSFETs has been slashed by an impressive 31% compared to existing models, positioning them as one of the top performers in their category. To bolster its NextPower 80/100 V portfolio, Nexperia plans to introduce additional innovations later this year. This includes the upcoming LFPAK88 MOSFET, which will feature RDS(on) as low as 1.2 mΩ at 80 V, and the compact yet powerful CCPAK1212 device, which will further enhance the portfolio's offerings.
Moreover, Nexperia is dedicated to supporting engineers in the design and qualification of these advanced devices. The company provides award-winning interactive datasheets that offer comprehensive and user-friendly insights into device behavior, making the design process smoother and more efficient.
