The journey begins with power generation, where the newest generation of wind turbines not only needs inverters for greater than 15 MW but also needs a fine control mechanism for the pitch and yaw of the turbine. SGM51652S8 features eight simultaneous 16-bit SAR ADC cores with a sampling rate of 500 ksps, with individual input stages for ±5-V or ±10-V input ranges. The input stages are capable of single-ended and differential signals with an analog bandwidth of 24 kHz at a ±10-V input range. Furthermore, the internal 2.5-V 10-ppm reference can be utilized to facilitate system design, and an external high-precision reference can be connected for further tight control of measurement precision.
Digitally, the ADC will allow for (Q)SPI up to 60 MHz as well as a parallel connection to the controller or DSP.
